I have only heard Charlie bark twice - once when he saw a fox on the garden wall (he legged it but barked at the empty wall later). And once when he was asleep. Just now we went for a pee in the front garden (back is a mud bath and we're swapping the lawn to gravel). He rummaged under the big hedge, in a very excited way, and in the end I encouraged him away. We did a tour of the few rose bushes, me saying "peep peep". Then he stopped, stood very square, and woof woof woof at the hedge! Oh, it was lovely! His woof is perfect! Deep and..well, woofy in a very boy dog way! Just made him walk away and we went back inside. I don't want to reward barking. But it was lovely to hear! I'm sure he was guarding us from a big scary hedge monster! (Or a fox...).
Re: Woof! Labradors do a good woof One thing I like about them. Though I'd like to hear less of Obi's :
Re: Woof! Riley grew into his woof too......almost silent when he was young but a big bark now thankfully not used too often ;D
Re: Woof! I think we need to hear some good proper lab woofs! Rachael, it sounds (hah!) like Obi might start us off? I might have to carry my iPad around for a while to capture a good woof - but I'll try!
Re: Woof! Lilly surprised us at the weekend with her barking. She has been known to bark at workmen, or "strange voices" on the pavement outside our house, but she is a fairly quiet girl. She does like to play growl - both with us and other dogs. All of a sudden though when she was playing after training on Saturday she was heartily BARKING at the other dogs whilst cavorting around. Have to say I was a bit gob-smacked ;D Been her normal non-barky self since though.
Re: Woof! Hmmm... Simba is pretty quiet, mostly. Thankfully as previous dear departed dog barked enough to make up for 10 dogs, so I figure I'm due a quiet one!! But when he does bark I get a good deep bark....he does tend to bark at strangers at the door, do I'll see if I can get one recorded in the next few days
Re: Woof! well done obi jasper only barks if he hears something at the backs but he as a very loud bark, will try and get a video
Re: Woof! Good woof Obi. Hattie has a good woof but Charlies' is awful more of a yap but if something is lurking it's a very deep woof and you would think there was a Great Dane behind the door :
Re: Woof! That's fab! A lovely woof! Must improve my "watch me" - every time I watch an Obi vid I come away with another thing on my things to do list.
Re: Woof!
Labradors do a good woof One thing I like about them. Someone should tell Finley, he has a rather effeminate squeak :-[ clearly another Finleyism... :
Re: Woof! Simba heard a strange noise last night and I was hot on his heels, trying to capture the woof....but couldn't find the stupid voice memo thingy on my iPhone...by the time I got it figured out the threat was over. Got a whole bunch of silence, though??? Sigh....will attempt again. Maybe a video this time....he doesn't bark on command so have to catch the opportunities....
Re: Woof! I'd love to hear Simba's woof! Please keep trying! No woof opportunities here. Hedge was declared safe and we're back to our usual silence... I don't want a barky dog...but getting one woof every 6 months isn't quite enough.
Riley was pretty silent at that age.....he's definitely a woofer now not forgetting his goose impression....honk! Honk!
Re: Woof! We absolutely need to hear Riley's honk! I could try for Charlie's morning whale moans and grunts...
