    Hi all.

Albert has just released a fairly long roundworm without a poo! He is 9 weeks (10 weeks on Friday) and was wormed by breeder at 2,5 & 8 weeks. We are going to vet on Friday for 2nd injections but I'm thinking I shouldn't wait that long and go & buy something from Pets at Home before then. Any advice on what I can give him from over the counter remedies would be greatly appreciated. He doesn't appear to be unwell in any way so far....

    Thanks in advance

Hi Jan, I would treat straight away. Panacur paste for puppies is ideal and easy to administer. You can buy it at country stores and online.

I haven't used this store, but this is the paste I use for puppies

Thanks Pippa. He weighs 7.5kg so would I need to buy two?

Hi I have just done my 8 weeks old with Panacur granules. My vet advised them and bought on line much cheaper. This site Pippa recommends is even cheaper :)

You'll need to check with the retailer or product description for doses, but I think 1 syringe does up to 6kg of body weight. The granules are fine too. And may be cheaper for larger puppies. You can also buy it as a liquid which you can mix with a beaten egg, or pour over some kibble. I like the paste simply because it is easy to measure out, and to get into the puppy. :) They seem to like the taste.

The active ingredient is fenbendazole. I'm sure other brands do it. If in doubt, give your vet a ring and ask what he recommends.
