Just had some awful news. At agility there is a couple who have 2 collie's X Rottweilers who are amazing. They are both assistance dogs to the couple. Marley (the boy) was Harley's buddy and they always played whilst waiting, or sat nicely together watching. On Xmas eve he started vomitting blood, they took him to the emergency vets which is half hour away and unfortunately he passed away just as they got there. He had blood coming out of both ends. His sister (Ruby) started being sick last night - they rushed her to the vets as she started vomitting blood. They have kept her in and are monitoring her closely. She was stable overnight, but vomitting blood again this morning. Vets think it may be some kind of poisoning. They live literally 5 mins away from me . They are both understandably heartbroken and lost without their buddies as they are trained assistance dogs

That's so sad - devastating for the owners. I hope Ruby recovers and the vet finds the cause. It must be worrying for you, too, living so close.

How dreadful. I hope the vet can work out what caused it and save Ruby.

Hoping that Ruby pulls through and that the vet discovers the cause. Truly awful for the couple to lose one dog and have another seriously ill. Very worrying for you until a cause is found. Keep safe Ternaya xx

That is terrible. Everything crossed they manage to save Ruby. Poison terrifies me; two dogs I know round here suffered from poisoning several years ago. One, a tiny little terrier type, didn't make it. The other, a big GR, was in intensive care for a while but managed to pull through. Massive healing vibes for Ruby.

A lovely retired couple in our village lost their Collie a month ago due to rat poison. Very sadly it was the owner that put the poison down in their garden, their dog ate it. Mary hasn't the heart to tell her husband and he hasn't realised probably for the best :( x

That's horrible, I'm so sorry. I assume they will do a necropsy on Harley as the knowledge gained might help save Ruby?

Ruby came home today They sent me a pic of them in the car with Ruby sat behind them with a massive grin on their face . She seems to of recovered well.
Marley was cremated this afternoon. Unfortunately the couple didn't have enough money to pay for an autopsy of further tests to find out the cause of his death. The vets think it was some kind of poison.

We are hopefully meeting up for a walk in the next few weeks
