    Poppy has come into heat...

This is good and bad. Bad because it means I have had to cancel a working test on Saturday, AND a full-day training seminar next week. And it makes the first few days of our trip to the UK over Easter a bit tricky. We'll work it out though - I think we'll just keep Poppy at my mother's house for a few days, as she only has girl dogs and her floors are wooden or tile (MIL has light-colored carpets! ).

Good though - this means, if Pops keeps to this cycle, she should come into season in March next year. Which would mean, if all goes well, that she might be having puppies in May of next year!!! Spring pups!!! Ready to go to their new homes mid-July!!! :D :D :D

Sorry you will be missing your training and test. Poor Poppy and the day after her Birthday too :(

Will you keep a boy or girl Karen? x

I KNOW!!!!! God knows what we'll all be like this time next year... ;D ;D ;D

We'll almost certainly keep a girl - and since OH has done an additional photography course and now knows how to photograph black dogs, we'll probably go with the black stud dog.

I do try not to get too far ahead of myself, but find it almost impossible...

Lovely! Does he carry yellow at all?

I don't think he looks small in the photo :) Do you see him working often?

I must admit one of the ladies in our class is thinking about having pups and if she chooses the dad I hope she will I will desperately, desperately want one. I think two dogs is OHs limit though ::)

Unfortunately Barbara he doesn't carry yellow, which is the only reason I wouldn't pick him. He is local, gorgeous, has a lovely character and is a super worker (we train together on occasions). Which all wins out over the colour, I think...

I think I would feel the same. To see him regularly and like everything about him is a really, really big deal.

Also, his health clearances are excellent. And I like his owner!

The bitch I like at training doesn't have any yellow either we don't think and I quite fancied a dark yellow boy but I would happily put that to one side if I was allowed a pup from her :)

Will Barney's owner help with the mating? It sounds like it can be a bit tricky........
