Are there any training book or blogs that are deemed gospel when looking for info about dog training ? Thanks in advance.
For pups, I love the kikopup videos https://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup They are easy to follow (if you ignore the fact her dogs are the equivalent of top scoring mensa dogs...Especially like the ones that run you through how to settle a pup, training calm..oh and loads more!
It really depends upon what you are most interested in reading/learning as there are simply masses of books/blogs/forums that could be recommended. There are just too many excellent trainer/behaviourists who write/blog regularly on a wide range of topics.
So what would you say are your go-to ones for someone about to get a new puppy, Jojo? I'd strongly recommend The Happy Puppy Handbook, by Pippa Mattinson. Very comprehensive, clear and up to date advice. And written specifically for the new puppy owner It'll give you a great idea of all the things you need to be planning for as well (eg sleeping arrangements).
Seconded! I’m on puppy number six an I get it out every time a pup is due. You forget soooo much in a year .
Yes, I agree, this is a very good site, you can find information and help on whatever issue you are having.
