Evening all, we have a chocolate girl from a litter born 25th July 2015. Had her from Poolehall Labradors in Shropshire. Her sire was Poolehall Mr Buttons. She is an absolute delight & we adore her. Would love to hear about her relatives, even better any litter mates as she was from a large litter of 12 (I think). She has a very distinctive wavy coat, which we love, so would be interesting to see if her brothers & sisters developed the same...look forward to hearing from you
Why not ask the breeder for littermate owners? We had an email group for Snowie's siblings and it was amazing to share stories when they were puppies. Made everything feel normal, and also fun to share their antics.
This thread was interesting. Looking at show line bred labradors and how many of our forum dogs were related. Quite a lot it seems! If you look at your dogs pedigree, you can trace back 5 generations, or further if you look at sites such as champdogs. There is another thread looking at working dog relatives, as I believe your pup will have some working line bred in there. https://thelabradorforum.com/threads/are-our-dogs-related.10268/ https://thelabradorforum.com/threads/working-line-are-our-dogs-related.10303/
My boy is from Grangemead stock, and also has a wavy coat. He's dark chocolate like his sire and brothers, and the girls were all milk chocolate, just like Mum! Good luck with your search.
Thank you guys & gals, going to have a look at the links today. Mollie is also a rich dark chocolate Sabas boss. I love reading about things on this forum, it's great & some fab advice too. Good idea about contacting the breeder MF. She is our first Labrador, I have to say I am hooked lol, she is the happiest, smart, loving & daft doggy. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her & even at her young age our dog walker uses her to help socialise the puppies she walks, which of course Mollie thinks is fabulous We get a number of comments about her coat ranging from 'she's got a good old fashioned working coat' 'great drakeshead coat' to 'what's she mixed with' and 'she can't be pedigree / well bred' lol! We went to have a go at agility last week, we were the only Labrador there & one of the other collie owners called her a brown cow
Take no notice!!!! My dog is show line (as in his parents and grandparents and sister have all been very successful in the show ring) and when he was young I too heard all the same opinions about him not being pure bred or being too lanky or being crossed with this that and the other. Graciously accept the compliments and politely ignore the rest
Thank you exactly right, we have got good at that now lol! I had to smile as Mollie stood wagging her tail, she happens to like cows
@SJH100 Well, we had one of Mr Button's uncles! Mr Button's dad, Lloyd was our dog Henry's half brother as they booth had Mars of Manymills as their father. We have been without a chocolate lab since Henry passed away a few years ago, and our wee terrier died in April. Anyway we decided to have another chocolate lab puppy and are picking him up from Poolehall on Saturday! We are all soooooo excited.
I’m sorry you have lost your dogs but Oh how fabulous with your new arrival, how lovely for you & the family. We will of course need photographs lol! Congratulations on your new arrival. Enjoy him, they grow up so fast don’t they.
We are down to get a Puppy from Poolehall in the next few months whose Sire is Mr Buttons. The mother, i'm not sure of her name but she is Black. We are hoping for a Black or Chocolate boy. Going further back, our old Dog Baxter from Poolehall. He was born 1st June 2001 and passed away June 2017. His Father was yellow Rocheby Fastrack and his Mum yellow Christmas Holly of Clee, also known as 'Pippa'. Baxter was Black and came from a litter of 8, 4 Black Boys, 2 Black girls and 2 Yellow girls. Would love to know of any of his litter, though being so long ago I guess chances are slim.
Awww how lovely Gemma, bet you can't wait to meet your new baby. Would be amazing to find some relatives from your Baxter. We are so lucky to have our girl from them. Keep us posted with your puppy
We had a chocolate lab from poolehall in 2010 … poolehall miss Maggie. Her mom was poolehall crunchie cookie and her dad was gainsmill winter warmer of poolehall. it would be great to see if Maggie has any younger relations. Mags had a wavy line down her back that’s seems to be familial
We also had choc lab, Nutmeg, she passed away on Monday, born 2009, dad was Gainsmill Winter Warmer, mum was from a different breeder, we are trying to find relatives aswell
