Hi everyone. I have had my 13 week old gorgeous yellow lab/golden retriever cross Berkeley for about a month now. She is about 3/4 golden geneticaly but 100% lab by any other measure (so far) and I am totally in love with her. I am on puppy leave to tend to her and she is a handful but smart as the dickens. I have been reading this forum for awhile and want to thank you all so much for the help and encouragement I have found. I have alwaya resscued adults dogs before - this is my first puppy from a breeder - and it would be much more challenging without the information here. THANK YOU
A warm welcome to you and Berkeley from Maxx and I in Sydney, Australia. I totally agree that this forum is awesome
Hi there and welcome!! My sister had a goldador for many happy years, he was a real character and a lovely boy.
Hello and welcome from Harley and myself. Berkeley looks fantastic from your avatar. I would love to see more photos.
Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Labs everywhere! All of the avatars are so beautiful. I am in an awesome pack. Crocopup FOR SURE. Labrogator, All jaws and paws. I look forward to having all the skin on my ankles back. I get such differing advice on how to curb it and all of it makes sense. The "chew 'til theyre two" mantra offers comfort in that it will pass regardless, but two is almost two years away LOL. Berkeley has also found her (loud) voice this week - protesting when she is redirected or ignored, persistently! I guess to let me know she still intends to play her way? I have to walk away eventually. Or put her in time out. Definitely don't need a barker so we'll see where that goes. I really do think a lot of this is energy she can't release any other way. A million toys and kongs and games of fetch in the house and smallish yard are not enough for her. I see her puppy fluff being quickly replaced with gorgeous muscles. She needs a good romp on the beach or a jog or hike with me - but oh those last shots - three weeks and counting and we can go explore what thus far we've only seen through the car window. She has mastered recall though with as many distractions as I can create, in hopes this will help out there in the big world. Working on figuring out how to upload pictures. I will keep trying. Good weekend all.
