My 7 yr old labrador- Oreo, was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago, and we used to take it to the vet for shots. But as to some difficulty I came through in my life when the pandemic struck, I no longer could take him to the vet now like before. I had to find an alternative for my poor thing, he is the only one left for me in my life. I researched it and finally came upon a solution that insulin shots can be given in as in-home insulin kits available in the market. My concern is whether it would be harmful to him. Could anybody help me?

Hi Daniel, welcome to the forum :)

I'm sorry to hear that your Lab is unwell and that it is adding to your financial worries too.

Only a vet who can assess Oreo in person is in a responsible position to approve safe treatment for him.

However, there are several non-profits who help fund veterinary care for dogs in families experiencing financial hardship - PetFund is one you apply to directly yourself I believe, whilst the Veterinary Care Charitable Fund receives applications from affiliated veterinary clinics on the dog owner's behalf.

I'm afraid I'm not an expert on either process - I'm based in the UK. But I wish you luck finding out more, do come back and give us an update on Oreo's progress.
