I had high hopes for Charlie's otter tail - but it's turned out not as good as I thought it might. I still love his tail though. I think Charlie has the best tail in the world (and I expect everyone thinks that of the tail attached to their labrador), even though it falls short of a really good otter tail.

I think the hair is supposed to wrap around the tail to finish off the look (you have to start with a decent thick tail to start with, of course, it's not all hair).

Here is the breed standard (Charlie carries his tail high, as diagram d - even higher, actually).

High hopes in the early days:

    Turning a bit feathery...

Definitely feathery (but still lovely to me:(

Obi's tail is the same as Charlie's. Thick, but goes a bit brushy in the last half.

Yes, I noticed that. I think Obi's is a bit thicker. Charlie's is a bit too long too - but more to stroke, that's what I say.

Julie and Rachael, I think you both may have OTD (Obsessive Tail Disorder). ;)

    They might be ignoring us.
Or maybe just having fun in the sand pit.

The lovely Dex is above such mundane and trivial matters - Dex has a unique spaniel like tail, he might not be eligible for Crufts (neither, I suspect, is Charlie due to the titanium assisted knee - although I also suspect that would be the least of his worries in trying to qualify ;D) but he is in good company. They won't let Ziggy in either.

We had a major, tail-induced, spilled beer incident on the weekend so that's one thing you're fairly safe from, Angela.

Obsessive Tail Disorder is only a clinical problem if it bothers the 'sufferer' or causes significant disruption to daily activities.

Charlie has the same power blaster hair dryer as Ricky! Only takes a few minutes to dry Charlie though.

Not sure I could comb that much!

I'm really chuffed he has some sort of a normal doggy life but it would drive me bonkers to have to groom for that long!

So glad he gets to play on the beach. Hopefully it's a common thing for him, he certainly seems at home :D
