In my experience there is always some noticeable blood loss at the start of a season so i think it’s unlikely she’s been in season without you...
Molly will often crunch up a small empty crab shell on the beach. It never seems to cause her any harm.
Thank goodness her first owners returned her to the breeder instead of selling her! Very happy for her and you.
