Hi everyone, I'm new here! We've wanted to get a lab for awhile and I have been reading up on lab info for quite some now. I don't want a puppy, but rather an adult. A friend of a friend is looking to re-home their adult male chocolate lab. I haven't visited him yet, but I'm attaching a couple of pics that I was given. I'm not a snob by any means, but I want a purebred Labrador Retriever, not a mix, as I love their personalities, and although I understand each individual dog has his or her own personality, the lab's general temperament appeals to me a lot. It might be silly for me to ask you to tell me if he's 100% lab by just looking at pictures, but maybe you can tell if he looks like he's not by seeing some pics? To me, he looks 100% lab, but I'm no expert. In any case, I think he is an absolutely beautiful dog! I haven't spoken with the current owner yet (will today), but I guess I'm just excited/eager, and wanted some feedback/opinions before I talk to the owner. Thanks!
Hi there Ash and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately we are NOT able to tell you whether your dog is "100% lab" and in fact such requests are against the forum rules http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/forum-rules-please-read-before-posting.1599/ In particular, Moderator Note: 1 f) Requests for confirmation of pedigree/ID Forum members may not post photographs of their dogs for the purpose of asking other members to confirm that their puppy/dog is a pedigree dog. If the dog is pedigree, it will have a certificate (assuming registered by the breeder) Remember there is a huge variation in the appearance and behaviour of labs depending whether from "working" of "show" lines. And as you say, what is important is the character of the dog and whether a fit for you and your family. Good luck Jac
Hello and welcome to the forum. Sadly, the forum rules prohibit asking for pedigree confirmation like this: You can read all the rules here: http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/forum-rules-please-read-before-posting.1599/ The best thing to do is ask for the pedigree papers. If the current owners have them, then he's almost certainly pure Lab. If not, you're taking some sort of gamble, since plenty of Lab mixes look very much like Labs. I'll lock this thread for now, but please feel free to continue to contribute to the forum. Best of luck.
