I have a beautiful 11 week old black working lab pup. He is a sweet heart and I just love him. Although I am worried about his third eye lid, it's always red. The vet said it may be an allergy, however he doesn't itch and there's no discharge, his not bothered at all. He was prescribed eye ointment for an infection..After a week his third eye lid is still red. Has any one else had this experience with their pup?
Hi welcome to you and your puppy. I didn't know about dogs having a third eyelid but have just googled it and am now up to speed. We have a now 7 month black working lab puppy who is now moving into his adolesence phase..... I'm afraid I can't be of any help to you re. the redness however our puppy has had regular eye discharge which our vet isn't overly concerned about and says it's most likely to be caused by summer grass seeds etc and is likely to disappear with the change of the seasons. I noticed that it lessened when we had a week's holiday in Cornwall with more time spent on the beach and less in fields... Hopefully it may be a similar issue with your pup .
