We have decided to take our boy Marlin for a second opinion. We have an appointment at 230 today. I will let everyone know the results as soon as I can. Thank you for your prayers and concerns.

So we got a second opinion and the vet said that Marlin does not have cataracts and he is not going senile .She gave him a thorough examination and she diagnosed him with Lentricular Sclerosis and said he is having problems with his hips and joints the beginnings of arthritis. She said he is probably growling due to pain. She gave us pain pills to give him twice a day and is hoping that is going to remedy the growling. We are trying the pills for a week and hoping for the best. She said he doesnt look his age, has a healthy heart and muscle tone. I am so glad I joined this forum and that so many of you suggested that I get a second opinion because I had planned to put him down today. Thank you all so much

At least you have a course of treatment for the problem! I do hope this solves the problem - here's hoping for a good outcome for you and your family!

As I already mentioned, my loving old boy Billy used to put his hackles up and growl - turned out he was suffering horribly from toothache... A tooth extraction and medication changed all that and gave him a new lease of happy life! Here's hoping the same goes for you! :)

Update on Marlin. He is doing so much better on his meds. He is not being aggressive and has so much more spunk. I am so happy we got a second opinion. Thank you so much for suggesting it and for all of your support.

Hugs and kisses from me and Marlin :)
