Hi I have a 16 week old lab. All was going well (apart from slipping on his wee at 11 weeks and breaking my wrist), but the last week has brought some difficult behaviour. Reading Pippas book and taking advice. Jumping up and biting my clothes tearing them. So I'm saying off and keeping lead short. Eating everything on the floor on walks and getting attention with a treat is helping Now constant whining for no identifiable reason. I've tried toileting but it continues when we come home . I don't know if he's still hungry . Or it's his teeth. I'm trying antlers but the this is shortlived. I feel I'm doing something wrong
Hi Diane. Just going off what you posted Number one rule. The feeling like your doing something wrong. That's normal. The rest is just my best advice. Old clothing you don't mind being damaged. Lab's eat everything. Engagement/rewarding the behaviour after like you are doing helps. They are also always hungry. Chances are it's his teeth. Things to chew on help a bit, but nothing seems to beat chewing on mum or dad. Take it as a chance to teach bite control. Structure. Train and play can mix but they need loads of sleep and often fight to stay awake. That's when the nipping gets bad. Disengage hopefully before it happens. Put them to bed and give them a chance to sleep. I would keep the word off for getting off things. Having the same word with different meanings or more than one word for something gets confusing for them. Chris
