    Hi there,

I have a lovely pedigree labrador that I got from a good bloodline. I've never had a problem with her. She seems very happy. Today I weighed her for the first time. She weighs 16.6kg

When I checked her weight online I've become very concerned. She should be far heavier...Apparently she should weigh mich more.

Please advise me. Does she need a vet? I feed her twice a day. I give her a whole plate of food each time - a combination of low cost kibble (I'm not very well off) with lots of meaty scraps and leftovers high in nutrients, vegetables, eggs etc. from my kitchen. She never begs or mooches and seems to be satisfied after she eats.

She's quite a willow-the-wisp, light boned lab and both her parents were slender dogs and sports champions.

Do you think she might have a medical problem? Is she very underweight? Maybe she was a runt? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks xx

Hi there and welcome! I shouldn't worry - if she seems happy and energetic and her ribs don't show, then she's probably just a small Labrador! Mine isn't big at 24kg fully grown, either...

My Stanley was 15kg at 5 months. Obviously for a male lab that's very small.

He's now 9 month and weighs 21kg, getting there slowly but surely!

He's perfectly healthy and the vet is pleased with him. Some are just smaller than others I think :)

As the others have said, don't worry. I weighed my two adults at the vet on Tuesday. My boy is 24.5kg and my girl is 23.5kg. Not all Labs are heavy.

My very small lab weighs about 23 kgs. If shes healthy active and you can't see her ribs I wouldn't worry. Just keep on top of het worming routine. the weights for age are usually the average and don't allow for a tiny lab or a huge lab

Not at all. Tatze is fully grown and 26Kg, an ideal weight. There are far too many overweight Labs out there.

    :)

Harley was very petite at that age - she was around 16kg too. She's now 3 and weighs 27kg and is very fit and healthy. A lot of labs are different builds.

My 9 month old show bitch has only just hit 20 kg. She's never going to hit the 30 kg the breeder told me she'd reach!

Maisie will be 3 in March and weighs 22kg. She has recently put on a couple of kgs as she has matured, but you would never know as she is still slim, has a waist and you can see her ribs when she is running around.
