Hi can anyone help, Lola has started her first season and it's very messy and smelly, has anyone got any suggestions. She is also staying in her crate a lot which is not like her, am I silly in assuming that they can feel the same as us. This is my first bitch so haven't experienced this before I've always had dogs.
You're not being silly my little female moo went off her food and became very withdrawn from every one else a got really clingy with me. I'm sure they feel uncomfortable theres a lot of hormones racing a round and stuff they don't understand happening.some are worse than others. It made moo so unhappy that i had her spayed after the first one. I hope she's ok and you too
She is being very clingy, her eating is fine but she is defiantly a different dog. I'm going to get her spayed in Jan when I'm off work for a wk. Did yours smell?
I have no sense of smell sorry. Its not a bad thing when you have a Labrador . Give her a hug from me
Haha I wish I didn't at the mo to be honest. I will give her a hug she getting lots, she just looks so sad Thank you
Hi Kerry, I haven't had a bitch in season, so I hope others can offer help. If it's a strong bad smell, I'd be tempted to go to the vet (even though it's the weekend, I know). I would be concerned about pyometra which needs seeing to immediately. Try calling the emergency number for your vet and having a talk to them about it. Better safe than sorry.
I found Harley had a slight coppery smell when she had her season and my vet said this was quite normal. What kind of smell is it? If you are at all worried I would call and ask the vet for advice. Harley was much quieter and clingy and loved cuddles when she was in season. Hope all goes well with Lola
It is a coppery blood smell, was just wondering if there was anything I can do to make the smell ease a bit. She is a lot quieter than normal and is wanting lots of love and cuddles. She still staying in her crate more than normal. Just be glad when it's finished bless her hate seeing her like this, cos she normally a complete loon Thanks for your help much appreciated
I can't remember Layla being " smelly" or Kippa ( our previous girl who has now been an angel at the bridge for 10 years) who was very clingy and whingy throughout, but we did put a "nappy" on Layla and she was ok.
She was quite smelly but thankfully she is at the end of it now. We won't be going through it again as we've decided to get her spayed as soon as the vet says we can. Thank you for your reply
I felt the same too I got Moo spayed as soon as i could as I didn't want her to go through that again
