Hi, I just got a lab pit bull puppy. I walk him regularly but as soon as I bring him in the house he goes to the bathroom. Can someone explain why he is doing this?

    Hi @Lisa71

You have a dog that is reluctant to void out in the street. So walking to achieve toiletting is not going to work.

You need to take him regularly to the same spot in your garden, mark his urination and/or defecation with yes and then give him a treat.

Regularly means after meals and drinks, and every two hours. You will need to do it during the night. Your dog is not old enough to hold his bladder all night long.

Baby puppies often don't have the confidence to toilet in public areas. When dogs toilet they are also 'marking' somehow and that requires a certain degree of maturity in the dog, to feel comfortable doing that. Think of it as dog graffiti which says 'I WOZ HERE' - a tiny puppy is not going to feel ok doing that, in a public area where they know other dogs are walked.

You will need to take your pup to your yard on leash and pick a spot to be the toilet spot, and give a treat immediately after the pup has toileted there. After a walk, go back to that spot and wait for a toilet there before re-entering your house....
