    Hello everyone,

Today my 4mo old male lab was diagnosed with Tricuspid valve dysplasia (TVD) by echocardiogram. He is severe (5/6). I am not able to stop crying. I lost my 9 year old lab in Dec. in an unexpected way that I couldn't fix. $9000 later and I still have no answers as to what happened to him. I finally convinced myself to get a puppy and now I have this. I am terrified. I need someone that will replace his valve and I can't find anything or anyone. Does anyone have experience with this?? Should I get a second opinion? He is my my everything, my child, please help. Thank you.

I am so sorry you are going through this, especially with such a young puppy that should have a good long life ahead of him. I have no experience, but I suggest you contact his breeder (if he is a reputable breeder he may help). I also suggest that you insist on clearances on the parents if you decide to get another puppy - these things are usually genetic.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sounds like you need a referral to a veterinarian that specialises in canine cardiology/cardiac surgery, who can go through all your options with you - is your local vet able to help you find someone perhaps? x
