So, after five months of resisting, Willow has finally been accepted onto the sofa. She was whining a couple of days ago and was really uncomfortable in her vest, so I took it off her. She gave me big puppy-dog "thank you" eyes and jumped onto the sofa next to me for cuddles. I didn't have the heart to put her back on the floor. When DH came home, she was still there. He laughed and shrugged. Well done, Willow. It just goes to show, persistence (and a big dose of pitiful noises) pay off.
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. They really could teach us a thing or two about timing couldn't they. Well done Willow, well done indeed
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Slickly done Willow You were just waiting for the right opportunity for guaranteed success! ;D
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Haha - well done Willow! Princess Tatze is allowed on the sofa in our house, but no one else - and their faces tell the story, hehe!
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Haha. Well done Willow. What's the point of a sofa without Labrador cuddles? That's what sofas are for...
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Well FINALLY Fiona!!! It's about time you were an appropriate Labrador mom and allow your darlings their rightful place on the sofa!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Well played, Willow....well played!!!! 8) 8) 8)
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. I'm so impressed with holding out for 5 months. Do you think your other sofa dog was sending subliminal messages from his temporary home where he looked so comfy on the sofa?
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha CANNOT wait until they are in the bed....don't waste the words Fiona...it's gonna happen!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. You missed out on 5 months of sofa cuddles with your dog. You have a lot of cuddling to do to make up that lost time! Never too late to start though
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. We have had LOTS of floor cuddles in that time, though! In all honesty, I think there's some work to be done on the sofa cuddles thing. Such as, don't stand on me then put all your weight on the one foot that happens to be on my boob.... And similarly with Dad's broken rib!!!
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Cuddle training. All too often, a sadly neglected area...luckily, while I was messing about with stop whistle and things like that, OH was sensibly getting on with the cuddle training... No time to waste, get this critical early learning in before it's too late. Charlie is a fully trained cuddle dog. He only stands on people when he wants his walk...he can hit a human lap on an armchair or sofa from 10metres with only very, very minor resulting bruising....his directional control between items of furniture is outstanding. image by julieandcharlie, on Flickr
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Hehehe 'we told you so' lol. I love my sofa cuddles, even when Barney (30kg) plonks himself completely on my lap and I can't breathe ;D Not only do they both steal our seats on the sofas, Barney even claimed my hot water bottle the other day! https://www.dropbox.com/s/xfhho4x0b9mohmx/2015-02-20 15.54.47.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/8gq0x3zz0n7habj/2015-03-03 21.54.31.jpg?dl=0 Lou x

Luckily Maisie learned very quickly what "OFF!" meant (although I've spoiled that word for using it to mean getting OFF the couch, which is I suppose what most people use it for… maybe I'll train that as "floor" or something). It doesn't mean off the couch but just rather GET OFF ME YOU LOUT when she's stepping all over me and I'm sick of it. She never seems offended, just says "ok I did what you said, treat time"
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Meg is lucky enough to have her own couch. It was an old one we put in the kitchen temporarily after we'd moved in. We were gonna throw it out but meg claimed it before we could! http://oi57.tinypic.com/v8g1lu.jpg
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. Aw Meg you are a cutie! 'Tis only right the sofa is yours - it's so your colour ;D
Re: 5 months. Sofa - claimed. lol, aw! That is one thing my husband would never budge on. The floor sitting gets a bit old ......
