Well hello guys, My first post and quite a downy one I do apologize in advance but in short; My labrador a beautiful yellow working boy lean I feel (I will find pics) with progressive hip displaysia virtually no socket left side and almost but not quite a socket on the right...

    The long:
He was diagnosed at 4 months and at 7 his height is now becoming an issue, I have pain regulated the past few months and now I feel its definately time to give him a push.

I was told to nurse him these 12 months at which point his hips will be reviewed and to see the damage he was xrayed at 4 months to reveal little to no socket left side and partial socket growth on the right...

Being my boy I can't tell you how I felt, The news was absolutely gutting at the vets and while a family member tried to talk I snapped words cannot describe how I felt.

We laid for days while I was off work for a week and I managed to regulate his walks - I reviewed my walking him with the vet and several vets over him being seen (around 3 to 4) some he saw twice and has seen since and all have commended me on his current condition given the circumstances.

Please note: HE WAS NEVER OBSESSIVELY WALKED I FOLLOWED THE 5 MINUTE RULE SPACED PERFECTLY FOR HIM.

He took to his harness walking well I had him walking to heel good however the worse his condition has got the more the Bob has shown through...a vet I saw with him that initially diagnosed the possibilities of it re-examined him in an unrelated issue and couldn't believe how well he had come.

So last night he met a bulldog, a handsome uptight little guy and he had never reacted the way he did with him and this dogs owner, he was calm and collected the owner had approached after debating to come over I heard him sort of above me in the park to which my boy stood proud and calmly approached - This is amazing for him.

He got talking I explained and as we were talking he managed to have a feel and instantly said to look at yumove he had a dog on it and it went 5 years over after it couldn't walk...

I have all the info I need regarding walking and such I have him down to a T I feel in regards to him and his energy levels however if anyone has any experiences please reply :)

If this is in the wrong spot please show me the way :)

I will not reveal anything else other than maybe his name, if the people I have him from are on here please dont think this is anything other than getting help :)

Has anyone used yumove on a puppy this young? And if so how did you get on?

Is there anything you guys could recommend?

    :)

If the pup has little/no socket, I'm not sure how Yumove wil help, but it won't do any harm so you may as well give it a go.
It's completely understandable that you don't wat to tell tales, but for my own interest, could you let me know whether the parents were hip scored at all?

The best quality joint supplement is Riaflex, specifically their Canine Joint Plus: https://www.riaflex.co.uk/products/canine-joint-plus/ For more info on how it compares to Yumove, click on the Comparison tab in the table on that site.

You can also add in their Green Lipped Mussel and Devil Alternative (devil's claw) - these ideas are based on supplements with some research behind them for human arthritis and joint issues. A lot of the pain from joints, comes from inflammation and so these supplements typically work by reducing inflammation around the joint - which in turn reduces the pain.

Again based on reducing inflammation, is golden paste - which contains curcumin: https://goldenpastecompany.co.uk/products/golden-paste

And wild fish oil with decent amounts of DHA - try Grizzly Wild Salmon Oil. For dogs with joint disorders you can increase the recommended dosage - there's a chart here: http://csu-cvmbs.colostate.edu/vth/...habilitation/Pages/fish-oil-dosing-chart.aspx

All the above was enough to keep my elderly 13yo Weim off any prescription anti-inflammatories her entire life.

Finally, swimming is an excellent non-weight-bearing form of exercise for any joint issues. Not only that but it will strengthen the muscles surrounding the diseased joints and the stronger muscles will help hold everything in place better and take pressure off the joints. So you might want to find a hydrotherapist near you and if necessary get a referral from your vet to them. You can claim on insurance for hydrotherapy sessions...

Finally, this isn't helpful now - but do always purchase from hip and elbow scored parents and also be sure to check the EBVs as well. All this information is available from Mate Select if you're in the UK. EBVs will calculate the risk there is to your puppy, by automatically looking at all the scores from all the dogs before them in the pedigree. A puppy's EBV will be the average of their parents'.

Golden paste worked well for my old lab with a shoulder problem.
Based on Turmeric which is anti inflammatory.
