Hi. My 9 year old golden labrador has arthritis in her back end & it particularly affects one leg.
At the moment shes struggling on it after getting a bit over enthusiatic on a walk so shes now on small ten minute lead walks until shes been to the physiotherapist appointment in a couple of weeks.
Now we've reduced her exercise shes started to put on weight. Shes on a senior dry food and Yumove tablets but I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for dry foods that are good for controlling the weight when exercise has to be reduced?

I would do a bit of research on the lighter version of the dog food you are feeding(or others) and see if they are appropriate for older dogs.
My previous lab had pancreatitis at 2 years old and was on a light kibble all his life with no issues. Or reduce the kibble and add some veg like broccoli/carrots. Make sure treats are healthy too. It is often the extras that make the difference(speaking from personal experience!)
Have you looked at “Golden paste” for arthritis?

Hi thanks for your reply. The kibble I give her is Vitalin Natural Salmon & Potato Senior/Lite. Im going to sound really mean saying this but I don't give the dogs any treats. They just have their dry food so I feel a bit mean reducing that.
