Just don't. :) Be serene, whatever your hooligan dog is doing. Be cool. If anyone says anything, just say "oh, highly driven, very intelligent dogs are always like this when they are young, I find. They are so very different from the average plod along pet, but so much more rewarding to train". Give them a bright smile, and move right along...
Hehe, I think we all feel your pain. We've all been the one cringing while our dog has done something inappropriate. To be honest, I generally ignore whoever is feeling the brunt of it and concentrate 100% on the dog. This probably looks really rude to the person who just got jumped on, but I found that if I didn't do this, I'd forget to use it as a training opportunity. For example, calling them away as they're going up to someone - if they came to me and I was too busy apologising to the person, I'd forget to treat them for coming back to me. So instead, I changed it to getting them to me, treated, put in a sit and C&Ting for calm behaviour as the person walked by. They might get an apologetic smile or a quick, "I'm sorry", but that's it. Mine were pretty awful with joggers at first. They would run up to them, barking. It didn't help that joggers here are generally mountain runners and tend to just appear on a path in front of you from between the trees, with very little warning. That was difficult! Luckily, when we went back to the UK with them when they were 9 months, we could practice with joggers in a large open area, and that seemed to fix it. They have little interest now.
