A big accomplishment for Lincoln today !!

I'm training using the book "Train Your Dog Like A Pro" .
We're up to "Sit Stay".
The goal is have the dog sit , pay for position, immediately hold a treat in front of the nose for one second ( no cues), if the dog does not move pay for position.
You have to do five correct in a row before moving on. He had no problem doing the one second. When we moved on to three seconds he just wouldn't do it. We've been on it for a week. So I said heck with it and tried five seconds and he he did five in a row twice. Go figure !!
I know I cheated a bit. You're not supposed to skip steps.
I'm just so proud of this dog.

Not cheating. Not at all. Sometimes one has to change the program to suit the dog. They are individuals. And they don't read these books.
