It's bright sunny morning in my part of the UK, with some frost and a sprinkle of snow, blue skies. So very welcome after what seems like weeks of gloom, high winds, rain, sleet etc.
So this morning Cassie was revved up and energised and clearly picking up strong scents in the woods, following her nose at terrific pace, I'm always torn because I love to see her active, she's so strong and agile physically, but don't want her getting too carried away. This just doesn't happen on dull wet days. But we did have a couple of shaky recalls, and it reminded me of her behaviour back last spring during her devil dog antics.
So I will be going back to doing more 'find it' games and things to keep her close to me, on lead/off lead so that we don't get that extreme frustration at the end of walks.

Sounds like Cassie really enjoyed her walk this morning. We have not had an off lead walk in the plantation since the mornings were dark - it's time-critical when I get there. It can only be a couple of weeks until it's light enough - I'm sure Coco will be revved up like Cassie - I must remember to ramp up the games too.

I love seeing them super active too, it feels like what they were ‘built for’ doesn’t it?

Yes absolutely this, must be the joy of having a well trained dog in the field, to allow them to work in the way they are bred for. Don't know that I will be able to achieve that for Cassie, might have to compromise!

There's nothing like moving quickly through country with them doing their stuff. It feels so nice. I feel so connected to them and woods.they are so happy.
