    Its a long process learning to be a therapy dog for an autistic child. But fourteen month old Labrador Luka is getting there.

    This article is an interesting insight into the complex training process these dogs undergo.

    wow - I've never heard of them being taught to read before! my mind is boggling - imagine if they could read properly....

    I actually find it quite hard to believe. And am tempted to wonder if there is some other kind of visual cue going on.

    But here is another article: Dogs can read and it definitely is not the 1st April!

    OH my gosh! that really is incredible, I've already got visions of sending the dog for the paper and him taking ages reading it on the way back! Seriously though this is potentially huge - not just in what it helps them do but in our understanding of how they think - it means that they can grasp an abstract concept - ie a few lines is a shape that they should recreate with their body - mind blowing. The lying on his back in response to a new picture seems to demonstrate reasoning not association. The argument that dogs can't reason has always been used to prove our superiority. Stunning.
