I decided this morning it would be a good idea to take Mabel to look at all the Christmas decorations at our very large garden centre. She was super excited pulling like a train so I did a little training on the car park to settle her. As we entered the building she was greeted by a massive display of moving polar bears. She was really good only barking and growling softly. The staff are lovely and were laughing and chatting to her. So far so good as we went on a little walkabout round the store stopping off at the pet department to say hello. Then it all went down hill, as we turned the corner Mabel came face to face with a little girl, no older than three dressed from head to toe in white fur, complete with hat. Mabel took one look and growled, she did look like a walking polar bear. I moved her away quickly, thank goodness for sausage. Next thing I know Mabel does a massive poo by one of the Christmas tree displays. (I had walked her before in case she needed the toilet). Time for a quick exit. We will be going back weekly leading up to Christmas, just perhaps first thing in the morning. It was so busy I was taken by surprise. All in all I was very proud of my girl who after all will be one on Friday and has never seen such things in her life before.
Haha! Welcome to my world! I take my guide dog pups into shops, cafes, you name it - every day. When they are younger it's always a possibility that they will have an accident indoors. I keep a 'big busy diary' so that I know when she's due - then I can be sure she's 'empty' when we set out. Here is Gypsy last year having a read of her big busy diary
Boogie how absolutely gorgeous is Gypsy and reading too. Funny that but I'd been keeping an eye on Mabel and her poos so to speak, as she's as regular as clockwork. Next week there will be no walking round the Christmas trees until she has been to the toilet even if I'm there all day.
It's a bit like them pooing on a free run, they often do one when excited, it's usually just a bit looser than normal. I have designated some 'spending areas' for Twiglet where we go and I ask her to do one if we are out and about if she starts looking like she might. They are quiet, enclosed, outdoor places near bins. She doesn't know they aren't actual spending areas like we go to at puppy class
Hehe, sorry but I had to laugh at Mabel's choice of toilet location . How embarrassing for you, I'd have been out of there pretty quickly too!
