Well, that was interesting! I was out on a snow path doing some long blinds/memories with Shadow. It's a great path because it's very quiet and very long and straight. I had placed a dummy just over a tiny knoll so it couldn't be seen from where I was sending him off from, about 60m away. Just past this knoll is a bend.
I sent him out, he ran off like a steam train, was about to pick up the dummy when he turned on his heel and fled straight back to me, as, around the corner came nine huskies pulling a sled!!!

Very glad he decided it wasn't play time :)

I'd have had heart failure. If I was to ban a breed of dog it would be Siberian Huskies and sledding. We have had more trouble with that breed than any other and mega Vet bills after attacks by two teams of huskies. Not Oban, our little ESS. Shadow was very smart, IMO, to run from them.

Doesn't matter that I know it's the owners' fault. I do not ever trust those dogs or their people.

Lucky it wasn't Ella as she has some really good husky friends from training so she'd probably run straight to them for a play!

I was hesitant to meet the huskies at training as I had heard about their bad reputation but I must say that that dogs I know are well behaved (mostly hehe), friendly and very affectionate. They do have that awful, evil sounding growl when they play though!

They were actually very well behaved. I immediately slipped his lead on and ran up a steep snow bank to be well away from the path. They barely gave us a glance as they went by. Shadow was attacked by a muzzled Husky when he was little. No harm done, but he's been very wary of them since.

Still, I need to find somewhere new for doing our training, if they're going to be on that path this season. Shame, it's perfect and there's nowhere else locally I can think of that's flat and straight like that. Hey ho!
