So sorry to hear this... You must be absolutely gutted. Your poor wife too, I do feel for her. Hang in there. Life will get better.
So hard for all of you. I know from your previous posts that your wife had struggled with him so hope that's settled a bit too
I'm sorry for you. I've been there. I have so been there. Grit your teeth, you'll get through it, and come out the other side. It's really, really tough though. But there is the other side. Honestly.
So sorry to hear the news @Johnny Walker but Duggan will come through the ok and recovery, just as he has for the other knee. Neutering will have no impact on food guarding, only training will help there
Oh no! We went through a TPLO and subsequent recovery when Solstice, our last sweet girl was 8. Up to then she had been really fit and active and altogether it was an awful experience. For the 8 months that she lived following the surgery I tried hard to not worry about it happening again and it didn't, we eventually lost her to kidney failure. So, so sorry that you're having to go through this again, especially with a small child and a baby on the way, However, as has already been mentioned on the forum, you are now experts at coping with it and it can't happen again. This is in no way meant to make light of what you are currently going through, just to offer support and some understanding.
I am unfortunately aware JoJo83. But I was speaking on deaf ears this time. I fought the good fight and at least he’s 2 now.
Sorry to hear about Duggan's injury . It’s good that they are getting him in so quickly. Fingers crossed time goes quicker for you both x
While I'm not surprised, I'm so sorry this was the outcome. My boy tore his second ACL in about the same time frame - about a week before the first one was proclaimed 100% cleared of his recovery period. The second time really was easier in the sense that I had everything set up and we all knew what to expect. While I hate that either ACL tore and we had to go through with the surgeries at all, my dog Brogan had such a good outcome. He lived to nearly 13 years old pain free and walking, running, playing and generally acting like a goof - just as he would have had he not torn his knees. He did not get arthritis in the joints and was still enjoying long walks up to the day he died. It's very hard to think of it now, but what you're buying Duggan with the next months of rehab is years of normal life to come. Please keep us posted and rant at will here - even though it's worth it, anyone who has gone down the TPLO road can empathise that it's not easy.
Good luck - I’m sorry you’ve got to cope with it all again and hope all goes well. As you’ve been through it all before, you know how important the recovery period is. Just look ahead to many more adventurous years with Duggan!
Just concerned that your wife's expectations aren't realistic I know you have been fighting Duggan's corner on neutering
Doctor just went in and said it was worse than he expected which was bad to begin with. Knee cap is shattered. WTH ? How can he shatter a knee cap from running in a straight line ?
Oh No....My heart goes out to you. You have all had such a rough time. Will this affect the recovery or procedure?
Not Not totally sure. It’s obviously more expensive and a little different procedure. Im assuming the recovery will be a bit slower but we rushed the last one along and made it worse. My wife is dealing with it and she said more pins and a different bone cut and rotation. I’m just getting bits on info on the fly. I’m in the middle of the ocean lol
re: pet insurance –– doubt you'll find any coverage at any cost. ACL repair in our area runs bet U.S. $3K-$5. I love my dog but that's too high a price with no insurance.
