Hello, We lost our Jack Russell a few months ago and are finally feeling able to look for a new dog. We would love to get a golden Lab and retriever cross. I've looked a lot into the breeds and the guide dog preferred mix looks perfect for us as we both work from home and have a lot of time for giving attention and walks. However, we rescued our Jack Russell and so I have no idea where to go to find a lab/retriever mix. Where are the most common sites for breeders to advertise. pets4homes seems to be quite popular but I haven't been able to find any mixes within a sensible distance (though willing to travel quite far). Thanks, Esther
Hi Esther, Welcome to the forum. Here are a couple of articles that might help you in your search: https://www.thelabradorsite.com/goldador/ and https://www.thelabradorsite.com/labrador-breeders-how-to-find-a-good-one/ Remember that even with a cross you need to find a breeder who health tests both parents - hips, elbows and eyes are very important in both breeds. Make sure that the Goldie parent also has no close family history of cancer, as this is a big problem in that breed and can be an issue in crosses too. Best of luck on your puppy search!
