Our pretty girl Amber passed away on Dec. 10/11 (12 yrs. old). She was diagnosed sometime ago with spleen cancer which eventually claimed her life. She had a good life with her sister (Shelby - passed away June 2/12). Amber loved bringing the paper in every morning, camping, hiking, running, ball chasing, carrying things, and especially swimming. She was truly a great girl, always by my side and I miss her so much.

We now have a 9 month old yellow lab. She is so different from Amber. Not laid back at all, so mischievous and very bratty. I realize she's just a pup but Amber was so mellow when she was that age. Our family was spoiled having a dog like Amber. It's hard, but I have to stop comparing the pup (Sophie) to Amber.

I know what you mean - but each dog is a separate character in their own right. Just give it a bit more time - I am sure you will come to love your Sophie very much. She will never be a replacement for Amber - but she will be a new member of your family, with her own special nature.

Hi there. Your Amber sounds lovely!

We can't help comparing can we? But nine months is a pretty boisterous age for most labs. Look forward to hearing more about Sophie, and pleased to welcome you both to the forum :)

Hi there: Thanks for welcoming Sophie and I. It'll be exciting at the end of November as we are bringing home a 8 week old Golden Girl from our Breeder. When we had Amber we had a Golden as well they were a year apart. Her name was Shelby and she passed away 6 months after Amber. I think Sophie will like having someone to play with once she gets bigger.

Gorgeous Pictures ...stunning lab and no doubt the greatest of friends. I read posts daily without a skip and everyday I look forward to my own pup reaching the older years. They certainly look so very placid and serene. Unlike McQueen who runs around like he's on dynamite 24/7!!! grgrgr hehehe
