:( So sorry to hear this, Kate. Sam is happy and that is what matters. But it’s so hard on you, I know. Hugs to you. Hope this flare-up is short lived.

Back from the Vets with our beloved boy . They are 99% sure that this new lump is his lymphoma , the lymph nodes in his abdomen are swollen too , indicating that this horrible disease is in an active stage . The Vet agreed with us that surgery to remove the lump is not fair to Sam , because the cancer is still there in his body, it wouldn't fix him , and oh how I wish we could fix him . Sam was the perfect patient , he is so compliant , it makes me want to cry . So , all in agreement that the best thing to do , is nothing , allow Sam to keep doing as much as he wants to do, he still loves his walks , he still , in true Labrador fashion enjoys his food . They didn't charge us this morning , saying that it wouldn't be ethical , given that Sam is a cancer patient , that touched me deeply . So lad , on we go , walk this afternoon and try my very best to not dwell on the future but enjoy the present xxxx

What a lovely vets you have. Enjoying the present is definitely the best course of action  So happy to hear Sam is still enjoying his walks and food; that's wonderful to hear that his illness doesn't seem to be affecting him too much

Yes it's a mindset you have to cultivate. Living like a dog in the here and now is a useful skill. I've lived in the barrel for a few years myself and found extremely helpful.

Thinking of you Kate. Like Sam, Inky doesn't know there's anything wrong with him and I try to keep my anxieties from him and enjoy him enjoying life.

I am so moved by your post, lump in throat. Your vet - how touching. Sam is such a wonderful boy, and lucky to have you.

I hope with all my heart that Sam can go on for a long time as my two friends with lymphoma have, they both have different types. One has had aggressive treatments and one no treatments at all, both of them 'wax and wane' and have now lived for 20 years since diagnosis. I hope Sam's lump will go down, we all on this forum, I think I can safely say, care deeply for you and Sam.
