Ready or not, here I come: Labratour 2017 (™ @snowbunny) has begun! I’m guessing if you’ve clicked on this thread, you know what I’m talking about. If not, here’s the short version: in the quest to find my dog and end my forum status as “Longest on the Forum without an Actual Dog”, I’m spending the next couple months in the UK with the goal of visiting breeders, learning more about Labs and (one could argue MOST importantly) getting to visit some lovely Labrador Forum humans and their dogs (or dogs and their humans?). The seed of the Labratour (did I mention ™ @snowbunny?) started with a crazy idea I had last November, while I was still trying to decide if a Lab was the right breed for me. I contacted @Boogie pretty much out of the blue and said, “I know this is nuts, but can I come visit you and your dogs?” She did NOT run screaming for the hills as she likely should have done, but instead welcomed me to her little slice of Labrador heaven. Thank you Mags, your patient OH and lovely pups for a wonderful visit! Appropriately enough, the preview version of Labratour 2017 actually started off in June when I ambushed @snowbunny, her OH and Labs Willow (“The Duchess”), Shadow (“Señor Cuddle Bum”) and Luna (“The Squidge”) in their secret Spanish hideaway. What a really amazing lifestyle this little merry band has in the (kind of) middle of beautiful Catalonian nowhere. I’m really grateful for a rather amazing day and so much great advice on my dog search. So after dipping my toe in, I’m now diving in. One month in the southwest based in the Bristol area and then a second month somewhere more northerly. I have no idea where this whole thing will go and where I will end up finding my dog. But I do know it’s going to be a very different autumn for me. In what I’m taking as a sign, the first UK car I saw on the motorway approaching Calais today had a custom number plate which read... ...“PUP IIES”. Labratour 2017 is officially ON!
Definitely a sign!! What more could you ask for? Your puppy is out there waiting for you! Good luck finding him/her. Looking forward to the updates along the way.
