Super photos. I love the Three Amigos one (the humans). Love the fun that projects out from the Labby group photos. And Bear - he is something else.
Great photos - feel that I could recognise Harley, Holly and Cassie in reality - can see their personalities.
It was a day off from posting yesterday but not a day off from the Labratour as I got to meet up with lovely Mags (@Boogie) and see Tatze and Keir again. Keir had a funky tummy so didn't join us for our pub lunch, but the dog chat flowed nonetheless. I love talking dogs with Mags! And by the way, all of my worst travel fears came to fruition yesterday with a full two hours of heavy snow driving yesterday. However it wasn't sticking (thank goodness) and no ice (double double thank goodness) and my Tiny Tardis made it just fine. Those new tires were a REALLY good idea, though! I got pretty lost in the Yorkshire countryside last night when all the posh homes with barn conversions pretty much looked the same in the dark and under snow and rain. I was considering just going door to door asking if anyone had an Airbnb barn, but finally ditched Sean (my erstwhile GPS) and tried to follow the actual written directions. Down the road at the curve, follow the lane until it becomes gravel, left at the chapel...and through the woods to grandmother's house we go! I was seriously glad to find the RIGHT barn conversion. Today I worked in the morning and then planned to go into York for some sightseeing. The owners of the Airbnb recommended going by train as the station is only 5 minutes away by car. Great idea, except there were only a dozen parking spaces at the station and no other parking options around. So I ended up touring the great metropolis of Wetherby (mainly Morrison's ready meal aisle) and I'll try York again tomorrow. I'd really hate to miss the Jorvik Center's viking smell-orama experience. Well, and York Minster and the Shambles and the rest, too. Tomorrow morning, though, the Labratour trundles on with my solitary (as of now) planned breeder visit. Fingers crossed! Then Thursday I tackle my ferry phobia and it's off to Ireland! I'd say that I'm excited to meet Irish Labradors, but as I already know @Beanwood 's Casper and Bear, I already know two Irish Labradors. Of course, Casper has totally embraced English culture and you can hardly hear his brogue anymore. Despite a photo lesson from Mags, I managed to flub most of the pics of Keir and Tatze...I pretty much stink at indoor photography. Plus they were both pulling some seriously seriously faces. They're still gorgeous though, even if my photos aren't! Thanks again for the visit, Mags - so glad I got to see you!
Glad you got up to Mags safely. Driving in the snow isn't the best. Good luck with the breeder visit tomorrow and your ferry crossing on Thursday xx
Lovely photos, all! Glad you made it to your barn safely in the snow I so love York! Yorkminister Cathedral is one of my faves...and the Shambles... Enjoy your day and good luck with the breeder visit!
Lovely photos! Especially Tatze, just love a soft faced black lab, and you have captured her gorgeous expression perfectly! Enjoy York, I have been there once and loved it...( and err... the shops... ) Casper says enjoy the Ireland, can you bring him back a packet of pork scratchings, please??? (I think he used to spend a lot of time in the pub.....)
I do love reading about the forum meet ups, but I can't wait to hear about your trip to Ireland! Eternally jealous that you live in a part of the world where England and Ireland are a mere "detour" on a journey from Germany to Spain
Marvellous to catch up over lunch @Emily_BabbelHund - enjoy York! Keir is all better now, it was just a 24hr tummy bug
You all are bad! True, I'm not too much into sitting in chairs when there are perfectly good dogs to cuddle on the floor. I think I did start out on the floor but if I remember correctly, Tatze tried sitting on my face. ENTHUSIASTICALLY sitting on my face. Or it could just be that Mags has comfy chairs.
So... it has been a very big day! I'd leave it until tomorrow to post something and do a better job, but this will have to do as tomorrow I'm driving to Scotland and the next day it's all day in the car again to get me to County Meath in Ireland. Then the day after THAT I land in Kinsale in County Cork. In other words, it's tired posts or no posts all. The breeder visit went very well. I think I wasn't as tired this time and knew better what to expect. I really liked her dogs the last time and I liked them again. She was very honest with me, pointing out that she does not breed the big bruisers I tend to favour. Temperament and health-wise, we're very aligned, size-wise we aren't. So I need to have a think and in the meanwhile mama dog has to actually have the puppies to see what arrives. I have another breeder visit tomorrow (a happy surprise as it was unexpected) plus a get-together with Cara's breeder just to have a chat. Cara was the very first breeder visit I did and since my first visit she has had three girl pups who have all now gone on to their new families. I last saw the breeder when they were two weeks old, so looking forward to his tales of hijinks of how the remaining six weeks went with them. Then I've got my travel and first ten days in Ireland sorted out...yay! Thank you, Casper and no problem for the pork scratchings. Would you like a doggie Bulmer's too? Why the quotes around 'detour'? This trip is only adding an extra 2500km to the trip from Spain. Practically an afterthought. When I told Cara's breeder that I was just stopping over on the way to Spain, he pointed out that my satnav may have an issue. Smart man. Oh, and I made it to York today, too. Never say I'm not making the most of Labratour Part III! All the pretty girls in a row... Outdoor photoshoot... And on to York... That's it...on to bed and Scotland bright and early tomorrow!
