I don't know if anyone can help or not, but I have never had a bitch dog before. Today Annie has been very subdued, not her normal self. She was very quiet when I got up this morning, but did eat her breakfast before going back in her bed. She stayed there all morning and wouldn't move. I got her to go into the garden with Fred and she did a normal poo. She wouldn't play with Fred just wanted to lay down. She didn't eat her lunch which isn't like her at all. She doesn't seem ill, but just not her self. I have hand feed her part of her tea and she did take it off me. She is seven months now. Has anyone got any ideas? Very worried Cath :(

Oh dear @Cath , poor Annie. Could it be a change in the temperature has her out of sorts? Nothing really springs to mind but have had the odd day when Juno is not herself. I would keep an eye on her and perhaps speak to the vet tomorrow if she's no better

    Poor girl :(
Has Annie been spayed? If not it could be the start of her season. It could also be down to the humid weather.
Is she drinking normally? I would monitor for a day or two and if nothing changes I would pop her to the vets
Harley has been a lot quieter and not wanting to play so much at home and she keeps going to lie in the hallway (wooden floor), or on her cool mat so I think hers is down to being too warm.
Hope she feels better soon x

Thank you Rosemary and Ternaya. It could be the temperature. She is so quiet, not her at all. She has been spayed so its not that. I will see how she is tomorrow. Feel a bit daft because I can't really say she is ill

No reason to feel daft @Cath we know when our pups aren't themselves and worry about them. Totally normal. Hope she's better in the morning

Morning @Cath, just catching up today. How is Annie? Hattie & Charlie have been quieter as the weather is so muggy here, it could just be that but you know your girl so maybe a quick ring to the vet to put your mind at ease. I really hope she has picked up it's such a worry xx

Morning everyone, Annie seems to be a little better this morning. Last night when my son came home from work, she did get up to greet him with her soft toy in her month. This morning although quiet, she ate a little chicken I cooked for her. Of course Fred had to have some too. She has been out in the garden this morning and her poo is fine. She is drinking ok too. She has now gone back to bed. Fred can't understand why she won't play with him.
I will see how she is after lunch and then give the vet a ring. Thank you everyone.

I once took Charlie to the vet because he didn't get up to help me prepare the cardboard for the recycling. Over time, I learned that he just sometimes has some quiet days. It mainly happens when we are in Cornwall and he gets a lot of extra walks and goes to new places. It's just like he wants a couple of duvet days sometimes.

It is worrying when they are not themselves, for sure.

We live our dogs 24 hours a day, so it's easy to spot when something isn't quite right, even if you can't put your finger on it. In my experience, vets understand that.

Not daft at all, very sensible to be so aware. Glad Annie is a little better this morning.

Well this afternoon she is a lot better. She had her chicken lunch and went for a little play in the garden with Fred. Not running around, but did go and get the dummy off Fred when he had been and got it, then gave it to me. Came in and had a nap. A friend of our came and she got up and greeted him like nothing was wrong. So it may of been the hot weather. Thanks all of you.
