Hi everyone Until 18 months ago I would have said I was a cat person as I grew up with them but having found myself for the first time as an adult in the position of being able to have a pet I really wanted close company so decided to get a dog. I've always loved labs but set out to get a rescue dog without any firm ideas but knowing the dog would choose me. The minute I saw Barney I knew he was for me. Wood Green said they think he's a full lab but he was stray so we don't know his full history and his parentage is often discussed. However he is the spitting image of a few lab/goldie crosses I know so I suspect that's him. Very gentle but rather over social with other dogs which 15 months on is still a work in progress 4 months ago I decided Barney needed canine company and so Rusty the working lab joined our little pack. He is adorable and so calm. he's fox red so a bit unusual so put these two together and here's a regular conversation at his obedience class: what breed is he? "Lab" really? but he's so calm! Looking forward to hearing about other lab adventures - I found this site having registered Rusty for Gun Dog training
Re: Another hello Hi Carole There does not seem to be a .jpg ending on the code for your photos. Am not sure how photobox works, but for the time being if you want to email the photos to me I will put them up for you. I will email you so you have my address. Pippa
Re: Another hello Hooray!! They are beautiful The black boy looks like a full lab to me. I regularly get asked what breed my fox reds are too. That puppy is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing. Pippa
Re: Another hello Hi Carole and welcome! What a gorgeous pair. Love the puppy - and I agree with Pip, the older dog looks like a full lab to me. The Goldie crosses always seem to look a bit more 'untidy' than that.....cuddly, yes, but untidy! Sam
Re: Another hello Sam - thanks - "untidy" made me smile. I must admit since he's put the weight on I've had a lot less comment about whether Barney really is a full lab. He was very underweight when I got him he looked like he'd been sired by a greyhound! Someone did suggest maybe some American Lab in there as he was so slim and leggy. He does have the lighter brown eyes and fluffy tail like a retreiver but actually I don't care about genetics he's my wonderful boy, absolutely adorable and still a bit naughty I'll try to post an early pick of him to test my photo resizing - here goes.. Re: Another hello Hi Carole, That lighter weight build is classic of a working stock, rather than show bred, Labrador. Regardless of his genetics though, he is gorgeous! I don't know about a normal computer but on my phone browser your new pic is so small I can hardly make out what it shows!! Think you may have overdone the resizing! Sam.
