If one of us has been out for a while and comes home, Willow will always "smile" at us. She wrinkles her nose and her teeth show, but she has a very waggy tail and it couldn't be confused with snarling in any way whatsoever. She looks really happy when she does it. I've heard it's an appeasement thing and can indicate anxiety or stress, but she only does this to her very favourite people in the world if she hasn't seen them in a while, so I don't believe that's the case with her. Shadow has never done it. Interestingly, their mum does this and of the two boys that remained with the breeder, one of them does, too. The dad and the other puppies never have. Does anyone else have a "smiler"?

    Aw sounds sweet!
No smiler here - Mira just does the whole body wiggle when one of us comes home. Sometimes she can hardly walk for wiggling :D

It looks very much like this - which, actually, looks pretty scary when it's caught on camera without the big wags!

    Imagine this, in black...

Our Belle smiles when we come home - and she paddles fer front feet at the same time - saying "teeth & feet" makes her do it all the more - with waggy tail to complete the greeting. So sweet.:)

That's very funny. Imagine that look on a Staffie though! It would be a different ball game. :)

I would love to catch a video of Belle doing "teeth and feet", but she is so camera shy..it would stop her :( I need to get a spy-cam to pin on me somewhere :)

My cousin's lab mix does this and I was timid to approach her at first, but when it was explained to me I thought it was just so charming and hilarious. I think she called it "gleaming". :)
