My 6 almost 7 month old working black lab has been what feels like too good to be true to train! Her recall is brilliant and she will sit and stay for the most part. When I take her out off lead and get to the end of the walk ready to get her lead back on she will come touch my hand and sit and as soon as I go to put her lead on she pounces like it’s a big game! She is honestly brill off lead will heel and come and sit and stay if there are other dogs like I said it feels like a dream however I just don’t know how to deal with this one?

    Put loop over your wrist.
    Treat in hand.
Give treat and slip the loop on at the same time.

    Works like a charm!

We have a similar issue with our 4 month old! Usually she’s really good and will sit and allow us to put her lead on but there has been two occasions where it has taken around half an hour to get her back on the lead because she keeps running away. It’s making us nervous to let her off the lead. We’ve practiced in the garden and she’s perfect every time. Any tips would be appreciated!

I would say just keep calling her to you throughout the walk and put the lead on for a minute or two so she doesn’t associate the lead with the end of her walk. Use some of her daily food allowance for lots of treats each time she comes back and has the lead put on.
