I am trying to run with Chepi but she treats it is a great game and jumps all over me - which is quite dangerous. Any tips? Also trying to locate a canni-cross group near Staines/Windsor.

I'd love to find tips on this too.
Homer simply won't let me run, he goes crazy and jumps on me sometimes with his oats right up to my shoulders and is face full of teeth head hight, I know what you mean by being dangerous. He lives his walks and will sometimes trot along behind joggers but as soon as I start to run there he us all over me. It does help if I need to get his attention quickly as I start to run away from what he's interested, he cones back to me double quick.

I do a lot of running with my two. Cuillin seemed to know exactly what to do from her first run, but Brods usrd to get really excited and leap at me, and his favourite running position was with my sleeve in my mouth....I trained them to 'Run' in the way that I trained other stuff like gundoggery, its a specific activity with its own rules. They know that 'Run' means we scamper next to mum and we dont stop, they have Run harnesses, a Lets Run command, and I stopped Brods grabbing my sleeve by giving him his Running Ball to carry. its a special ball he only gets when we Run! I broke it down and started them 'Running' with me for just a few paces, treating for running nicely, building the duration of Running nicely and treating. We run for miles now and they are great but it took a wee while with Brods to get him to realise the rules..Canicross is ace, you can also run with dogs in an increasing number of regular Trail Runs where I live ( Edinburgh area)...

Keeping a close eye on this thread as once Bella's 12 months I want her to run with me, I assumed just starting slow and treating whilst jogging to encourage running next to me ... Multi tasking though!!!!!

Run harnesses - debs tell us more??

Hmmm yes it does involve a little multi tasking at the start! My two have recently got low back running harnesses, you can get them from Canicross website and also Innerwolf ( sorry if not supposed to advertise anyone!), but thats only since we got into Canicross. Before that they just had different harnesses for running than daily ones, and different leads ( with bungy attachments). If we are on beaches they run off lead, in the countryside they run on lead as Brods is a little fur and feather obsessed. they have to be on lead in Canicross. I havnt taught mine to pull me, which is the Canicross way, but Ive started teaching them the Canicross sleddoggy commands, some of the really good Canicrossers are awrsome to watch with their voice control on turns, speed ups, slow downs etc....we dream of being that good!

I am trying to figure out how to clicer train (sorry my letter after J isn't woring on the laptop). I may have to start with a new command at the stroll and build up to the jog, probably saying "let's run" as I already say "let's wal " (blast that stupid missing letter!)
