Thanks Helen, it sounds like you and Charlie are doing brilliantly, moving to the park and facing the temptation of small, furry beasts. I'm not sure we made much of a dent in our weakest area - recall from other dogs - but within the confines of a group course we did manage some recall from playing dogs as the dogs played together several times a day. I loved seeing just what the dogs were capable of based on their built in drive, a real eye opener and a bit of inspiration to make the most of Riley's natural skills and enthusiasm :)

That, I think, is the key to successfully train hunting bred dogs. Utilising the drive rather than fighting it. :D

Watching 6/8 month old puppies hunting through the woods was amazing :)

Would love to Barbara, but afraid I might end up looking like a prat in front of all the serious ones , Sam does love his retrieving but he is rough round the edges , if you know what I mean :) Its a work in progress , a progress that is often slow ::) But look forward to seeing you at the beach cafe :)

Don't think we are quite ready for that Barbara, but you have worked hard so enjoy. Helen x

We're pretty rough around the edges - there's plenty on the 'needs work' list :)

I think committing to go will help focus my mind though and do some proper work. Hopefully going to the Hampshire Gundog Society classes when they start too. I'm trying to find lots of group situations to keep working on Riley's focus in amongst other dogs.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the training so much that you are going back. I have just come back from my weekly training class at the Kimberley's. Great fun, as always.
