Took Willow out for her walk this morning. Wow, the blizzard was intense! Couldn't see anything, wind blowing and gusting really strong, just dangerous! Willow freaked out a bit - and this is my solid puppy! - so I carried her for a bit to settle her, but headed straight back home. No way I was taking Shadow out in that, so we've done a load of training in the big communal garage instead. I can at least exercise his mind if not his legs today. I guess some days you just have to make judgement calls. I have a feeling they're going to be wearing me thin today
Re: Apocalyptic! Yup, they can still toilet outside our apartment because we have a big terrace, but the garage is for about 40 cars and is mainly empty at the moment so plenty of space for practicing sit/stays, heelwork on and off lead and all the other basic bits and pieces. There's lots of smells in there too, as you can imagine, so it's better than home to help working on proofing. And .... Shadow finally clicked on the "floor" (down) lure! YEY! We managed to do three even without a lure. I am so proud
Re: Apocalyptic! Wow, the thought of little light coloured Shadow in the blizzard makes me shudder... Good call to stay home.

Re: Apocalyptic! He he.....funny. The garage sounds great. I am assuming it is a clean and tidy one with no potential antifreeze puddles for instance :-\
Re: Apocalyptic! No, it's cleaned regularly and the back section I'm using isn't even being used by cars at the moment, so all's good
Re: Apocalyptic! We've had a light dusting of snow here so far....and Bella LOVES it...totally distracts her from everything....but I can't wait until it's like this again...and see how she reacts then! ;D ;D ;D and yes...that is my house....under all the snow....
Re: Apocalyptic! :-[ We are definitely in a snow belt....over the course of a season we on average get probably 5-6 feet....on a real snowy year we've had as much as 12 feet over the year...which means that on the flat at any given point in time we have 4-5 feet as it melts and more snow and then melts and more snow. It's beautiful...but a pain in the keester too. Thankfully we have a plow truck and our cars are 4WD so we can get out....but we run out of places to push the snow off the driveway and often wonder if we will EVER see the grass again. : We have to get creative with outside play options and toys that don't hold the snow....
Re: Apocalyptic! We had a metre last night, on top of what was already here. I took them out for a walk this evening - the wind had died down - and they went absolutely nuts. John took the camera but I'm not sure if he got any decent pictures because a friend we hadn't seen in a while turned up and we spent a while talking to her as we walked along - her sensibly on snow shoes, us without and sinking up to our thighs!
Re: Apocalyptic! Goodness, sounds full on ,sounds lie, you've got a good training area in the car park though x
Re: Apocalyptic! Wow! A meter of snow overnight can't imagine that.......fabulous.... good you have your garage for sure!
Re: Apocalyptic! Over here the huge snowfall we had at the beginning of Dec. is starting to melt, it's been 5-6 C here the last couple days. I like the warmer temps but it makes it very slippery with the water lying on top of icy sidewalks...we had terrible freezing rain over the weekend. I'm very thankful for my ice grips these days!
