Anyone got a way of getting a 15 week old puppy into a back fastening harness that doesn't involve a wrestling match?

Once she is in she is happy as Larry and trots along beside me quite nicely.

    Bless Charlie !

We put ours on the floor in front of Riley who's siting. Then I pick up both his front feet, put them in the harness and pick up the two ends next to his feet, lift them up and fasten them. Riley's always been pretty chilled about this sort of thing though. If I tried to do one foot at a time he would take the other one out and it would take a while so the two feet at the same time stops any hassle :D

My harnesses have always gone over the head...
Dexter in a sit.....treat in my hand, slide it over his head ,he stands up as it goes over his head and has the treat and I say'stand' while I fasten it.....none of this has been trained...just same as brushing him and doing his teeth, same thing done ,in the same way, with the same words said everytime.
I tried him the other day without the treat and he was fine with it but I still gave him a piece of chicken when he was fastened in for being so good ;)
So I'm my case I can't advise with training help for you it's really just been consistently doing it the same way...
    Good luck x

He is such a gorgeous boy :)

I came across a kikopup video about getting your dog to like the harness, not sure if you have seen it.

Good luck with that one......I used to have to give Harley a treat to get her harness on, but when it was on she didn't mind it. I have now brought one that goes over her head (like Angels's Dexter) and she lets me put it on her with no problems at all :)

I think getting them used to doing a 'sit' and maybe a 'wait' while you put it on... It'll take a bit of patience and persistence but eventually they will sit as soon as they see the harness as they know what's expected of them. I did this with Penny for her halti and now whenever I pull it out her bum hits the floor!!
Also a way to get them not to get too excited about the harness - they will start to realise that harness = walkies! And this can be a nightmare. So you can desensitise them to it just by practising putting the harness on and taking it off several times throughout the day, they'll soon realise that having the harness on doesn't always mean a walk so they should get a lot calmer when you're putting it on.

hmmm...."most dogs who dislike harnesses have an underlying problem being touched". Nope, something else going on with Charlie. He is the most touchy feely dog ever - he loves being touched, stroked, cuddled, and massaged. Sigh...I wish I knew what it was. As as for eating a treat off the harness, I'd be waiting a looooong time....
