Re: Back on lead walks only Oh no! Maybe a sprain or something. They can take a little while to heal. Hugs to Poppy, and you. Hope it gets better soon.
Re: Back on lead walks only So sad for you and poor little Poppy :'(. Is it the same problem Karen or something else?. Please take care xx
Re: Back on lead walks only Thank you, you are all so kind, I really appreciate it. Hopefully, this isn't such a huge setback as it looked yesterday. She is much, much better again today. I saw the senior vet this morning - she says the tendon to Poppy's toe is still inflamed and painful. OH took Pops up the hill into the snow yesterday, and running around up there in the snow she must have hurt the toe again. That would explain why she was holding her leg so strangely yesterday, out to the side, if she was trying to keep weight off her foot. So - back on anti-inflammatories, controlled exercise (NO RUNNING AROUND IN THE SNOW OR IN THE WOODS), and hopefully this will clear up. If it's just her toe then I am no longer so worried - yesterday evening when she was hobbling around and trying not to put weight on her front right leg I was really frightened that something was really badly wrong. Anyway, here she is yesterday, in the snow. Looking at the photo, I can imagine how the snow might have pushed the toe upwards.
Re: Back on lead walks only You know I am a huge Poppy fan and that is a gorgeous picture of a gorgeous girl. Glad it sounds like it's just a toe - still very uncomfortable for her, but in the grand scheme of things... Clare
Re: Back on lead walks only Phew glad it's nothing more serious for the gorgeous Poppy. Wish we had snow - beautiful photo Karen xx
Re: Back on lead walks only Well, I hope the vet's right and it's just the toe. It was such a horrid shock yesterday... Anyway, I've cancelled the weekend training course for next week. Perhaps she would have been all right - but I don't think it's worth the risk.
Re: Back on lead walks only My mum is sat on the couch next to me looking over my shoulder( stop nosing mum! ;D) and she said Is that a photo of Dexter?' And then said of course it's not it's in the snow!Mrs Pops and Mr Pops would make a fine looking pair!im so glad it doesn't sound serious Karen, the snow might have contributed but it was immediate ice on the injury at least ,would have reduced the swelling a little.
Re: Back on lead walks only Pretty girl She and Dexter do have a similar look!! Glad to hear that it seems confined to her toe. Fingers crossed that more rest will do the trick.
Re: Back on lead walks only Update - things are really definitely a lot better. No discernible limping, though she did is still cautious with her foot. But OH has to be kept on a tight rein - the vet said to take things easy this week, no retrieving, no playing with other dogs - and he called me up yesterday to ask if I thought it would be ok 'to do a little bit of retrieving with her'.. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! For goodness sake NO!!! Men. Honestly. : Today I have allowed him to do a bit of 'seeking' in the woods with Pops,, whereby he hides a dummy and then sends her to look for it. I am sure she will love this, hopefully without her doing too much accelerating or braking. We're getting there. Yes Angela, Dexter and Poppy would make a beautiful couple..
