I don't really know where to begin , but this week has been horrendous, bad enough for us but poor Sam has been distraught . Started a while ago when a survey for new windows in our bungalow showed a dangerous level of the bad asbestos in soffit boards and sills . So, on Monday a company called Shield arrived to remove the asbestos boards . This meant tenting off the back and sides of the bungalow, sealing all windows and doors , just leaving us restricted access via one door . This alone took ages , the heavy duty polythene was stapled to a wooden frame, looking like something out of a film , and outside the front was a shower unit for the men to remove contaminated clothing, shower and then dress . Inside the tent was a huge fan sucking all particles into it, sounding like a jet engine . If this wasn't bad enough , a wasp nest was then discovered, this topped work until , 24 hours later , a pest controller arrived to despatch the wasps and still we were tented up with no access to the garden . Once the back was finally done, the tent moved to the front and still windows sealed , in this warm weather too . Now all this was bad enough for us mere mortals, but poor Sam , he couldn't understand where his garden had gone , why he had to go out for a simple wee on a lead down the lane but also why the terrible noise was humming loudly away all day and night . Never have I seen my poor lad so fed up, utterely and completely fed up whereas Millie just delighted in barking at the men , and machines . She isn't usually a yappy dog at all , but she was cross, really cross about the interlopers . Finally , work finished after four days , tents all gone and yippee , dogs out onto the garden . Within minutes , Sams tail was wagging like mad , then he fetched all his toys out into the garden, he has been out all day , is still out there right now, wont come indoors as though he is afraid it may disappear again soon, bless him , sensitive souls these Labs
Poor Sam, and poor you! Bet you were as glad to see the back of them as Sam! What a fuss and a mess it must have been.
Kate never mind Sam being unsettled, you and Paul have a right rum run! So glad it's sorted now,it sounds like it was a real upheaval week! But do not fear,Millie is here! Sounds like she had everyone under control x
You must have cooked with the tenting in all this heat and been unable to get away from the noise. No wonder Sam was out of sorts. It is a bit late now or I would suggest relaxing in your garden with a nice glass of wine to celebrate that it is all over. However, there is tomorrow night and the evenings are long and warm.
Sounds like a ghastly time had by all. Your Sam reacted exactly the same way BJ would have done. He would have been distraught if his precious garden vanished. So good that its all over and you can get back to normal. Can just imagine Sam outside with all his toys
Oh Kate you have all had an awful time, asbestos makes my heart sink and my stomach churn. I am so relieved you have had it sorted out and can get back to some normality. I hope you are all OK, Sam & Millie too. Love to you all xxxxx
What an awful week for you and the dogs. So pleased that Sam has reclaimed his garden so quickly and is back to his usual self
Thank you all , apparently , the dreaded stuff is safe when left alone, but the worry was that fitting new windows would disturb it so its better gone . Sam is visibly relaxed bless him , Millie is missing the men , nothing to growl at through the window , until the new windows are fitted of course
Glad your all back to normal and Sam has his garden back. I'm not surprised Millie was cross all that noise disturbing her beauty sleep and upsetting her Sam how rude of them. Next job the windows At least the window men shouldn't make as much noise or mess.
