Hi everyone. It's my first post! thanks for running such a fantastic community. My wife and I are set to pickup our black lab puppy in 3 weeks, we went and visited him for the first time yesterday and were unsure whether this is a problem or in fact normal for a lab puppy, so apologies if this is ignorant. The puppy had baldish spots/ thin hair in his eyebrows. I can find a few other pictures of similar spots online however nowhere near as prominent. Is this likely mange? or fleas? Below is a photo of what I mean. Thanks, Scott
You must be very excited! What did the breeder say? Did you ask why a puppy has bald spots? (Sorry can't see your pic.) I must confess I'd be very concerned with the breeder if the puppy isn't 100% healthy.
Oh sorry, not sure why the image didn't load? I've popped it on Imgur. We didn't notice it too much until we got home and looked at photos, the dogs seemed happy and healthy enough. Thinking perhaps that it just has thinner hair in these spots? You can see on the second picture that it has them on both sides.
He's a real cutie! I agree with @MF and would want to know what the breeder says and then discuss with your vet asap if this is causing you concern. You saw the thinning in person, right? Not just in the photos after you got home and looked at them? I have plenty of pics of my Rotties where they look just like your pup in your photo, not from thinning fur but from the little bit of raised bumps over the eyes (dog eyebrows, I guess?) making the light highlight those areas in photos and making them look lighter. Just an idea...
Yes, I agree they look quite like the eyebrows to me, too, especially in the second picture. Here's a pic of another black Lab puppy where you can just make out a similar thing: By the way, I made your images go inline. Only Forum Supporters can directly upload images; if you're not a supporter, you have to use a photo sharing system like Imgur. You can still include the pictures inline. Here's a little tutorial to show you how: http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/posting-a-photo-from-imgur.12177/
