Both Nelson's balls have descended just fine in to the ball bag. However I can't help thinking that one seems to be slightly in front of the other. He doesn't seem to be in any discomfort and I don't remember ever seeing him even lick them (surprisingly I know! ) Has anyone else seen something similar?
As far as I remember with our boys, that is completely normal. I've no doubt those with more understanding of this sort of thing will be along soon.
Yes just keep an eye on it they do seem to change shape. Rory has one thats lemon shaped and slightly smaller and in front if you are worried speak to you vet.if it looks sore or enlarged or he seems uncomfortable also speak to your vet . If you look at how they hang you can see if they were side by side it could be a problem when walking. I keep an eye on Rorys so I'm familiar with their shape and texture so I can spot anything wrong
Yup, just the same as with our human boys, we should give 'em a squeeze once in a while to check there's nothing strange. Well, stranger than normal, anyway
You made me feel queasy.... Thanks all for the replies. Have to admit to being a bit confused with his equipment. Especially as there are those two round ball shapes, either side of the base of his donger. Any idea what they are?
I heard once, that balls are always slightly asymmetric with one either lower or slightly in front of the other (humans too...!) to stop them knocking together when running! Don’t know if this is a myth but I get this mental image of one of those desk toys you get with the hanging metal balls that knock together and I can imagine that wouldn’t be comfortable
Those are the anal glands, which you will not see unless something is wrong and they are swollen. And smelly. The ones at the base of his penis are the bulbus glandis. You may see these latter two ocassionally. Oban is not symmetrical either. You need to feel those up regularly you know. Just to check everything is ok down there, same as you feel him all over for lumps and bumps and whatever.
Yes I got a bit confused when I was advised that the two round balls at the base of his donger were "glans", when I actually thought that the glands were near his bum. But after a quick google, I found out that those two round balls at the base of the donger are "Bulbus Glandis", and the "anal glands" are still where I thought they were. The Bulbus Glandis were very visible this morning, but now they are not. Anyway, nice to know one's way around your best friend's undercarriage
If he's anything like Shadow, it will be almost permanently on display anyway Either a dog on his back with everything being proudly shown off, or standing on my chest, waving his bits in my face
Benson's bulbis glandis were actually out at the weekend, I kid you not, I have NEVER seen anything like it...luckily after some warm sugared water, I was able to reinstate everything...
Teller was a rescue so he was neutered at an extremely early age as per usual American shelter policy. I never thought I'd have to worry about dog balls until whilst out of town I get a call from my ex who's watching T that went something like, "Umm... I don't think Teller is neutered after all, he has these two lumps at the base of his 'dog bone'! Do you think his balls haven't dropped and have been inside his body this whole time?!" After a quick google search it took a good 5 minutes to stop laughing lol. Although T doesn't let his lack of boy bits stop him from showing off his lipstick and paying a healthy amount of attention to his genitals. He's truly an inspiration to all male dogs...
