    Hello there!

we have a 4.5 month old black lab puppy named Cash, who has been sleeping 7-8 straight hours through the night consistently for over a month now until the last 2 nights where he seems to have regressed to waking during the night at 1 and then up and barking non stop at 4-430 in his crate. He is teething and growing rapidly and we are wondering if this has a partial cause? Any tips or thoughts from anyone? We have been trying our hardest to ignore but your sanity only lasts so long

Hi Jacqueline and Cash, welcome to the forum :)

I'm sorry Cash is disturbing your sleep. Pippa has written about this problem in some detail on our main site. The article is here - you'll need to scroll past the first bit, which is about brand new puppies, but after that there is a section on puppies who have started waking up at night after a period of successfully sleeping through.

Good luck, let us know how you get on!

    Hi Jacqueline,

    It is hilarious!
We experience the same issue with our 4 1/2 month puppy! We are back to coming to his room, reassuring him and leaving again to go to sleep. We look like zombies. This shall pass too I guess :) Sarah, thanks for the article!

As an update - we have been barking free at night for almost 4 months now! Strictly ignoring it, and not giving it any attention finally broke it. We ended up sleeping in our spare room on some nights with earplugs in etc. to get through the night! It’s painful, and when you feel like there’s no end in sight - it will eventually fade!
