My 13 week old lab puppy is barking and seems nervous or afraid of visitors to our home or when the UPS man comes to drop off a package. He is a super friendly dog and we have socialized him a ton. He does not act like he is going to bite them or anything aggressive, but I do not like the barking. He will bark at them with his posture all tense and tail up. He has just started doing this and has never acted afraid of anything or anyone before so has come out of the blue. He tends to stop rather quickly and warms up to the visitor fast, but why is he all of sudden acting afraid or nervous around people that come to our home. We also took him camping with us and when a friend approached our camp site he did the same thing so he has done it at places other than home. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
There have been quite a few discussions on this recently... Here's one that I found quickly. My puppy is going through a similar issue. http://thelabradorforum.com/forum/n...ador/labrador-puppies/271288-scared-of-people
My Bella who is 14 months does this, she only barks at strangers not people she knows and it only happens for a couple of minutes ( she doesn't bark at the doorbell only when they enter) she was also socialised well too but just is a bit nervy around unfamiliar people. It helps if I put her in another room when they first come in then when she hears us talking she knows all is ok I think she wants to protect me which is ok Just seen that your dog also does it other places, Bella occasionally does it if unfamiliar adults approach on walks and get too close, I just stand back and praise and treat when she is calm.
