Hi everyone. I have adopted an 8 week old lab - Leia. I obviously want to feed her the best diet I can but find vets here is South Africa are not very informed on nutrition. I’ve been told to feed her Hills or Royal Canin kibble for large dogs? Any advise would be appreciated.
Hi first of all if you are feeding kibble it needs to be for a puppy and not an adult dog. Either of those brands will do a puppy version. Their nutritional needs are different to an adult dog. Go for the best kibble you can afford that has a high protein content.
This is a pretty good website to check out different types of kibble: https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk Labradors are considered large breed (this is based on their adult size, not their size when a puppy) but you need the puppy kibble to get the right balance of nutrients. For Hills, this is one of their products that would suit a lab puppy: https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/dog-food-reviews/0136/hills-science-plan-puppy-large
