Hi guys, What would be the best sort of treats to give while Bob has a bit of a runny tummy? Not major anymore, but he's on the chicken & rice diet. The vet said to use chicken pieces, but I really don't want to be carrying round cooked chicken in my pockets all day - sorry! Even in a bag it'll be pongy! I thought maybe rice cakes? Or cream crackers? Something dry and bland? Are these OK? Any other ideas? I'd like to continue training as much as I can.. he's responding so well.. plus we need to reward toileting correctly as well. Thanks, Lou x
Re: Best treats for a runny tummy? Dry crackers should be fine, or what about toasting a slice of bread , cutting it into tiny pieces, no butter but maybe just a tiny smearing of peanut butter or pate to make it smell good ? Hoping Bobs tummy will be loads better soon
Re: Best treats for a runny tummy? I use dried chicken. We invested in a food dehydrator a year or so ago and dry carrots, liver and chicken for the dogs, they seem to love it and it's not smelly in a pocket for training. OT but it's really good for mushrooms and other veggies for stews etc for us too.
Re: Best treats for a runny tummy? I rarely go anywhere without chicken it doesn't smell - or perhaps I just don't notice anymore.
Re: Best treats for a runny tummy? I used to only use chicken when Harley had a poorly tummy so as to not upset it again.

I don't find steamed diced chicken that smelly but maybe like Julie says I don't notice it anymore!
Re: Best treats for a runny tummy? Try pieces of apple (i don't think the core and the seeds are healthy, tho) . It doesn't seem to affect Sara's tummy and it is definitely a premium treat .
Re: Best treats for a runny tummy? My friend toasts a piece of bread and cuts it up into miniature pieces if her dog has a tummy problem and can't have the meat snacks she home makes. I'm not sure if bread is healthy but Gustav never has a problem eating those and she treats sparingly. I give my puppy mashed cooked sweet potato with his food if he ever gets the runs (which is rare) and it works wonders. I saw the tip on here I think.
