Are we happy with it? I can put it on a sticky if it's good to use?

I think you'd have to give some instructions about how to sign in, and how to enter the data...

Thicko question coming up - where do you measure from? What counts as the "withers", exactly?

One of our friends (the Sammy Lady) always referred to Tilly as a peti (petite) Lab. She is only about 20" at the shoulder and a little over 60# Cooper (25" and 85#) looks like a Moose beside her. I had never heard the term Canoe Lab before, but she has been canoeing with us since she was a pup, and she is a lot easier to handle in the canoe than Cooper. Of course we have both of them in the canoe some of the time.

If we are going to do this, perhaps we should just think about what data we want? It would be extremely useful to collect the following data:

Height - made up of body and length of leg
    Weight of the dog
    Age of the dog
    Male or Female
Working line, Show line, Pet Bred mainly working or Pet Bred mainly show

There is a very interesting study done a while ago now, and we could recreate it if we collected this data. The study is too old to be useful now.

(Working line is within three generations, two FTW or FTch, ditto Show wins or champions, pet Bred is more than three generations away from multiple Field or Show winners - happy to argue about those definitions though! :D If we can't agree, happy to just go with mainly working or mainly show).

And people have to be precise! We can't have any sloppiness in the measurements! I need it to the nearest 10mm now! :D:D:D

Yes, it would be really interesting to collect this. I suppose I'd be most concerned with people entering their own data that someone might accidentally delete data already entered. With sharing it on a public forum, there's also the risk of someone purposefully abusing it. I can't think of a way around this without having someone (or some people) in charge of entering the data?

Well, I can think of a way, and that's for me to write an app to do it, but I'm rather time-poor at the moment and I think you'd agree I have other priorities!!! :D

Ok, well, let's collect the data and I'll enter it - but only if people do the measurements properly, because I want the data. No sloppiness 'my dog wasn't really standing still' etc.! :D

That question left me stumped for a bit. :D:D:D

I always want data. When I've got the data I'll do something interesting with it.

but it won't be standardised unless we all use the same measurement from the same area. You need a diagram showing which measurements you want. Will you want it to be age related too? Will it be to study growth or pet dogs gen pop ? It would be very interesting to do a general population but it would be hard to do a growth study

Well the instructions and the diagram are pretty clear so I'm not sure what else could be added to ensure we all measure the same way....
